The Magical World of Disney from Katie’s Corner

The Magical World of Disney from Katie’s Corner

When my mom told me that I would be able to come on tour with her to work this summer I was so excited. While I knew that the job would be hard and the hours long, I was thrilled to be able to spend some quality time with my mom before I had to go back to Utah for college in the fall. During the tour, I definitely faced the challenges of what it’s like to be an adult and have such a hard job, despite that; I had the time of my life.

The break days were the best, whether it was getting nails done, Bourbon Street or even just relaxing and chatting over dinner, it was such a blast! However, while those days stick in my head as great highlights, my absolute favorite break day I would have to say was Disney World! From the time I was a little girl to now, I have always had a fond love for Disney. The place is magical. No matter what your age is, or where you are in life, Disney brings a smile to everyone that enters its doors.

I was so happy when my mom and I concocted the plan to take the crew to Disney on our break day. Everyone had been working so hard that we both knew they deserved some fun! What was even better was that almost none of them had been to Disney before! When we arrived, it was the same as it has always been, but I was still as excited as a little kid. Riding the rides, eating the yummy food and spending time with some of the greatest people are memories I will cherish for the rest of my life. I loved Space Mountain (the roller-coaster) and listening to everyone scream like a little child. Even better than that was watching everyone’s faces as we entered rides like Pirates of the Caribbean and the Buzz Light-year ride.

We went from being mature adults to little kids, laughing and screaming and soaking it all in. It was amazing! When the night finally came to an end, it was quite depressing, but we were tired and knew that we had to say good-bye to the Mouse. As we were leaving Disney with the fireworks blasting behind us, I knew it was a memory I’d never forget. Spending the day with my mom and the crew who have become like my older brothers was more than I could ever ask for.

Dreams really do come true :)

She holds the prestigious titles of Print Master and Explorer of Light from Canon USA and has served on the Board of Directors for the Professional Photographers of America. She isn’t as concerned with those titles, though, as much as she is proud of her ability to transform a single moment in her studio into an invaluable, time-transcending work of art. Sandy first established herself and her studio with heart-touching children’s portraits and remains one of the world’s most-respected children’s portrait photographers to this day. Charity and education play significant roles in Sandy’s life as well, as Sandy Puc Portrait Design is consistently involved with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Locks of Love, Operation Smile, The Children’s Hospital, The Food Bank of the Rockies and The Denver Dumb Friends League. Sandy is also a co-founding member of Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, a non-profit organization that provides portraiture services to families whose babies will never leave the hospital. Complementing Sandy are three incredibly skilled Associate Photographers: Helen Noakes, Liz Ogg and Sean Rozales. Combined, Helen, Liz and Sean have been with Sandy for 14 years. Each Associate has extensive professional photography education in addition to specific training under Sandy. Getting your portrait taken can be unnerving, even stressful for some, but Puc’ and her staff have a knack for putting their subjects at ease.

  1. Sounds like it was awesome Katie! I enjoyed meeting you in OKC, hope you liked the fudge. :-) You have such a sweet spirit, just like your mom. I just wanted to tell you that I think you wrote this very well. You came across as an excited, yet very mature, young adult. I think there are people in their 30′s and 40′s that don’t quite understand the important things in life yet, the way you do at your young age. What a blessing that you have that discernment so early. Take care, and have a great time on the rest of the tour! I enjoy seeing the updates that you all post for each city.

  2. Looks like you guys had a BLAST!! I love that you take time out to enjoy yourselves, you SO deserve it! Can’t wait for the next tour stop in Seattle, you’ll have to take time out to “do” the Space Needle and Pike Place Market!
