We had a great turn out last Saturday for our annual Locks of Love Charity Event. Overall, 150 inches of hair was donated to Locks of Love. This charity is such a great way to give back and best of all, you get the chance to make a difference in the lives of sick children. The hair that was donated will supply hair that will be used to make wigs. Thanks to all the girls that participated in this event, and we can’t wait to do this again next year!

With Earth Day and Arbor Day this weekend, give back by learning how to keep America Beautiful.

We love Keep America Beautiful Inc. They have a variety of programs like The Great American Cleanup, America Recycles Day, the Recycle Bowl and Clean Sweep USA that not only make our communities cleaner and more beautiful, but also create a ripple effect of awareness, appreciation and concern for our environment.

Keep America Beautiful Believes that each of us holds an obligation to preserve and protect our environment. Through our everyday choices and actions, we collectively have a huge impact on our world. It’s really a simple concept, but one with far reaching effects.

Your 2012 Spring Color Palette for Outdoor Family Portraits

This time of year is perfect for an outdoor family portrait session. Regardless of the location you want, be it a mountain field or a local park or garden, there are lots of wardrobe options to consider. Here are a few of our favorite looks for this season.

First, consider the spring color palette this year from Pantone. Most designers favor any combination of these shades in their spring lines.

You can create a stylish look with any one of these colors, simply paired with white or other neutrals, such as the Starfish or Driftwood shades. Alternately, these colors can work well together to create a more playful or dramatic look. Some of the stronger hues like Bellflower, Cabaret and Tangerine Tango will make great accent colors for accessories, shoes and jewelry.

You can create a variety of looks with these color ideas, from casual to sophisticated, splashy to subdued. If you use a strong color, be sure to balance it out with plenty of white or neutral pieces as well. Above all, be sure to let each family member’s personality shine through. Nutritional and Easy Homemade Baby Foods your Little One will Love

Avocado

Serve fresh, mashed with a touch of garlic salt. If you’re feeling fancy, add finely diced tomatoes.

Peas

One cup contains more protein than a tablespoon of peanut butter! Steam or boil until tender and puree. Tastes wonderful with steamed and pureed carrots as well!

Squash

Many varieties are perfect for one of baby’s first foods. Roast until tender, puree and voila! Stir in some applesauce and a pinch of cinnamon for a delicious dish.

Peaches and Pears

You can use fresh or canned peaches and pears. Simply slice, mash and serve for a yummy treat any time.

Remember – You should always consult your pediatrician about all dietary choices for your baby. Be sure to allow a week after you introduce a new food, before you introduce another. Use clean hands and utensils when preparing baby food, and be sure that foods are at a comfortable temperature before giving them to your baby.
